Wings Opening - _TNY_2065

The large red damsel (Pyrrhosoma nymphula) is one of the very first damselflies to emerge in spring in Sweden, even if this one was photographed in late June.

Typically, they can be found in clearings or along the edges of forestation.

They lay their eggs in slow-moving water and the nymphs aren't typically found in high-nutrient enviroments.

The one here was in the process of opening the wings when I took the shot which I think made for a more interesting shot.
