Bright - _TNY_2321 (In Explore 3/9 2025)
I spotted this little flash of colour on my mother-in-law's bee hotel. It is some sort of emerald wasp in the Chrysis genus, but there are a bunch of very similar species so without popping it under a microscope, there isn't a way to tell which species - and I figure the wasp would dislike that even more than I do.
These guus are also known as cuckoo wasps as they parasitize on solitary bees and wasps which of course was what it was doing when I found it. Normally, they are quite shittish and I was pleased with being able to get two good shots of it.
