Banded, Pt. 2 - _TNY_0226

The blue-banded morpho (Morpho achilles) is one of the more common speices at the Haga Ocean butterfly house - but also large and rather spectaculr with its shimmering blue bands on the dark wings. Since blue morphos have such large wings, their flight is also less fluttering than most other butterflies which makes it easier to see the colours.

This one was parked on a leaf for a while before taking off again after I had gotten my shots.

Part 1 shows a bit of the blue bands here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/54722805374/
