All Black - _TNY_2251

The Heliophanus genus of jumping spiders, known as sun jumpers, include nearly 170 described species - and nearly all of them are found in Africa. In Sweden, seven species have been found and I think (but am not certain) that this is a male of Heliophanus dubius, a species without a common English name, but the Swedish "smaragdhoppspindel", meaning "emerald jumping spider" comes from them sometimes having a faint green sheen.

This particular one literally fell in my lap while I was enjoying a good book in the garden. Here, it is walking across my hand and in another shot, it had gotten down on the ground and was preparing to jump here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/54652966850/
