Green Version - _TNY_2373
While looking for the dune tiger beetle on a sand bank in the Mjällån river which meanders through the Nedre Mjällådalen nature reserve near Härnösand, Sweden, I first found this green form of the copper peacock beetle (Elaphrus cupreus) and managed to photograph it at 3.9:1 magnification.
Like all of its kind, this one was a runner and it took me a while to tire it out at which point it chose to hide in a small pit in the sand.
The "regular" colour form of this species instead look like this: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/52545297405/
