Jump Preparations - _TNY_2252

The Heliophanus genus of jumping spiders, known as sun jupers, include nearly 170 described species - and nearly all of them are found in Africa. In Sweden, seven species have been found and I think (but am not certain) that this is a male of Heliophanus dubius, a species without a common English name, but the Swedish "smaragdhoppspindel", meaning "emerald jumping spider" comes from them sometimes having a faint green sheen.

This particular one literally fell in my lap while I was enjoying a good book in the garden. Here he is preparing to jump off a small rock next to me.
