Surprisingly Well Camouflaged - _TNY_1603

There are a whole bunch of damselfly species in Sweden where the males are bright blue and the females are grey or white, but just one which is bright red - the large red damsel (Pyrrhosoma nymphula) - which makes it the easiest to identify.

Looking at it like this on a leaf, it is very easy to think it is a bit of a silly colour if you want to hide, but when I was shooting this particular one where the old mill used to be in the 17 and 1800s at Åva-Stensjödal in Tyresta National Park, I realised that there is something with this colour (and shape). the stems of leaves on some plants growing there were red and next to them, this one which looks like it would stand out just about everywhere suddenly disappeared!
