Getting in Position - _TNY_1441

A male alder leaf beetle (Agelastica alni) positioning himself on top of a female before attempting to pass his genes on in Tyresta National Park, Sweden.

 

There was a whole bunch of these guys on a small alder plant - plus a couple of another, similarily sized, leaf beetle that likes alder leafs, namely Plagiosterna aenea (here: flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/54535615966/).
