In Your Face, Pt. 2 - _TNY_9943
The common housefly (Musca domestica) is an extremely common species and possibly the animal in the world with the largest distribution.
This however, is a lesser known cousin - the autumn fly (Musca autumnalis). This species is also known as the face fly due to its habit of landing on the faces of cattle where they feed on tears, sweat and other secretions from the cattle's eyes. Not really showing in this photo because the wings are covering it is the orange abdomen which tells us this is a male.
Also, doesn't the disc-shaped red lichen on the tree bark look really cool? A helpfull fellow on Reddit told me they look like it belongs in the Lecanora genus.
