Yellow Like a Lemon, Pt. 2 - _TNY_3840
Unlike most Swedish butterflies, the male brimstone butterfly (Gonepteryx rhamni) like this one is quite easy to tell from the female. Most species don't have a particularily distinct sexual dimorphism, but in these, the male (on the right) has a more yellow tone while the female (on the left) have a very pale green, almost white colour.
As for the name, as far as I know, English is the only language that associate the yellow colour with brimstone as most other has a name referencing lemon: German: Zitronfalter, Dutch: citroenvlinder, Norwegian: sitronsommerfugl, Swedish: citronfjäril, Spanish: limonera, Danish: citronsommerfugl, Polish: Latolistek cytrynek and so on.
