Abundance - _TNY_0621
There are a couple of species that are always around at "my" butterfly house - a couple of blue morpho species and also two types giant owl butterflies. This week's visit however, there was a
different owl that was abundant - and I normally think of it as rare - this one. It's called the yellow-edged giant owl butterfly (Caligo atreus) and is like one of the other owl butterflies, but with the saturation cranked to eleven.
Just above this one was another and there were two more below - but all of them kept their wings closed (like they do most of the time) which is a shame as they have a band in a deep purplish blue which turns into a nice mango yellow over the hind wings.
