November 2nd isn't exactly when you expect to see biting mosquitoes, but this banded house mosquito (Culiseta annulata) was sitting on the bathroom wall on that day back in 2023.
I obviously went for the camera first - as one does - and got a couple of cloesups of her.
This is one of the larger species up here and their biting leads to them having very few fans. Looks quite cool at this level though, right?
