Ant Attack - _TNY_6511

This pale owl butterfly (Caligo memnon) wasn't doing too well, possibly because of age and had laned on a rock next to the path at the Haga Ocean butterfly house.

If you zoom in on it, you'll be able to see a couple of the common red ants (Myrmica rubra) which had found the butterfly and swarmed it.

These ants are a bit of a nuisance and have ruined more than one shot when they manage to bother a butterfly enough to make it fly off while I am setting up the shot.
