Green Camouflage, Pt. 4 - _TNY_1366

Spending the day (back in June of 2021) at my mom's summer house in the Stockholm inner archipelago we came back from the beach to notice a new guest. This is a scarce merveille du jour (Moma alpium) - yes, that's the English name - which was resting on the side of a house which was painted green.

The larvae of this species feeds on oaks which makes that garden a logical place as mom have several rather large oaks growing there.

I would very much like to see one on an oak, but I suspect I would have a very hard time finding it as that green, white and black camouflage looks like it would blend in amazingly well with the light green lichen that grows on the bark!

Unfortunately, this one was pretty high up so I had to do a little balancing act on my toes on a garden chair to shoot it and my dear wife decided to snap a photo of me doing so - you can see it here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/51242586783/ (Looks extremely elegant, no?)
