Four Colours - _TNY_8321
This cuckoo bumblebee has me a bit confused about the English common name. The scientific name for the species is Bombus quadricolor where "quadricolor" obviously references the four colours of it (black, yellow, orange and white).
This has led me to believe the English name is four-colored cuckoo bee , but I keep finding mention online about "four-coloured cuckoo bee being an alternative name for the forest cuckoo bumblebee (Bombus sylvestris). "Sylvestris" references forest so that name makes sense and I can't for the life of me figure out why it would need to have another name as well - especially one that collides with another species.
Hopefully, it is a case of one mistake on the internet and others inadvertently copying it.
