Women and Their Outfits - _TNY_0300
The mocker swallowtail (Papilio dardanus), also known by the very unhelpful name "African swallowtail", come in many different outfits. Or at least the girls do. The guys all look the same, but there are at least fourteen(!) different wing pattern forms for the ladies - this female is either a f. hippocoon or a f. hippocoonides and mimic a species known as the friar (Amauris niavius).
I have an shot of her on the ground taken just before this one which can be found here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/54052514581/
