Sometimes I really wish I could trick the butterflies into opening their wings. Like this male blue diadem (Hypolimnas salmacis) which has a really cool blue colour on the dorsal side of the wings - but it absolutely didn't want to move the entire time I was at the butterfly house. You can sort of see a hint of the blue at the top of the wings here, but it would have been really cool to see more.
Sometimes it is possible to get them to open up by gently blowing on them, but that only happens rarely - and obviously not for this one.
