Here is a small female goldenrod crab spider (Misumena vatia) trying to hide on the side of a thistle.
While it might seem that her white colour isn't a very suitable camouflage against the magenta and purple, you have to remember that spiders and insects have eyes that see different things than our do. It might very well be so that in the wavelengths of light that a hoverfly sees, the spider has a much better camouflage than what our eyes perceive.
