The Duke - _TNY_0360

Another new species find at the Haga Ocean butterfly house - say hello to the male common Archduke (Lexias pardalis). I really would have liked him to open his wings a little more because the metallic shimmer is way more pronounced on the hind wings which are mostly covered here.

This species has very distinct sexual dimorphism, ie the male and female look very different (on both ventral and dorsal sides of the wings). Fortunately, I also found and photographed a female and also shot this one showing from a different angle, showing the orange underside of the wings so those are coming later.
