Can't Fly, Pt. 2 - _TNY_3053

The black wine weevil (Otiorhynchus sulcatus) is a pest in gardens on both sides of the Atlantic. They have fused wing covers which means they can't fly.

I found this one indoors and took it out and placed it on a monk's hood (Aconitum napellus), but also known as wolfsbane, aconite, monkshood, wolf's-bane, leopard's bane, mousebane, women's bane, devil's helmet, queen of poisons or blue rocket.

These flowers were clearly taller than me (who is 184 cm 6'), but I figured it could just fly off after I had taken my photo - but I guess it had to choose between a long climb or a tall drop.

I don't feel particularily sorry though. When scared, these guys tend to make a jump and drop to the ground so this one could just do the same.
