Legal Guardian, Pt. 2 - _TNY_0256

Lifting up a leaf, I found this female swamp crab spider (Xysticus ulmi) guarding her egg sac against potential raiders.

 

Despite the name, this species is not in any way limited to wet surroundings and the nearest water to this one was several hundred meters away (not counting a garden pond.)
