Redeyed, Eventually, Pt. 3 - _TNY_5525S2
If I say this is a male red-eyed damselfly (Erythromma najas) it might seem to be a weird choice of name as the eyes aren't particularily red.
The thing is that when damsels and dragonflies have just hatched they haven't gotten their final colours just yet. This one will have very red eyes later on though.
In this teneral stage, they have to wait for the wings to harden up and can't fly which is the probable reason why this one didn't leave the leaf in the Skeppnan nature reserve when I stuck my lens up in it's face.
This is a two-exposure focus stack for a little extra DoF.

To see how different it will look once it has taken on it's actual colours, look here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/50405275806/
