Leather - _TNY_4360

This metallic wood-boring beetle (Anthaxia quadripunctata) was hanging out on a yellow flower next to the water when I was visiting the Mjällådalen nature reserve near Härnösand, Sweden.

 

Looking closely at the metallic carapace of this one, I can't help thinking it almost looks like it is made from leather.
