No points for guessing where the thick-legged hoverfly (Syritta pipiens) gets its name.

 

This one was attracted to the lovely red flowers on the great burnet (Sanguisorba officnalis) in my mother-in-law's garden outside Härnösand, Sweden, on our August visit there
