While waiting for a particularily jumpy dragonfly to land on a small log in the Näsuddens nature reserve near Åkersberga, I spotted somthing moving in the grass. This something turned out to be a male European garden spider (Araneus diadematus)which after walking across my hands decided to take a for me very convenient break in this position - allowing me to take photos from various angles.
As you can see, the male which doesn't need to have room for eggs inside the abdomen is considerably slimmer. Compare him to a female which looks like this: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/52329263476/
