World of Purple - _TNY_9658
When posting this shot of a fuzzy bumblebee on a purple angelica (Angelica gigas), I thought it was a completely different species, but now a year later, I am (almost) convinced this is a forest cuckoo bumblebee (Bombus sylvestris), also known as the four-coloured cuckoo bee.
This flower is a bonafide hit with pollinating insects and they are constantly visited by wasps, bees, flies, ants - and bumblebees. All of them busy with drinking nectar and not much interest in getting away from me and my camera - very handy!
