Leafy Horns - _TNY_7515

The Eurasian bee beetle (Trichius fasciatus) belong to the sub-family Cetoniinae, commonly known as the flower beetles. This is a fitting name as these are mostly found on flowers, munching pollen.

The German name for Cetoniinae, "Blatthornkäfer" and the Swedish one, "bladhorning" reference a different characteristic as both basically mean "leaf-horned betles".

Looking at the antennae on this one on a purple flower at Åva-Stensjödal in Tyresta National Park, I think it easy to see how fitting those names are as well.
