Red and Proud - _TNY_7602
When I have previously found brown chafers (Serica brunnea), they have been a bit skittish and as soon as they detect me (or the camera) being close, they play dead (like so: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/53447104236/) or at least drop close to the ground and fold in their antennae.
This particular one was a bit cooler and stayed standing tall and proud for me.
On a side note, am I the only one who would have named this one the "red chafer" rather than "brown chafer"? At least the Germans are thinking towards the same way as the species is known as the "Rotbraune Laubkäfer" which translates into "reddish brown leaf beetle".
