Gold Ring in Gold Ring Reserve, Pt. 3 - _TNY_4272

I don't know what I did right, but for some reason, my son seems to genuinely like to accompany me on my bug hunts.

Back in early April of last year, we went out to a very local nature reserve called Gullringskärret. A loose translation of the name to English would be "gold ring marsh".

Anyway, so we're walking along the footbridges there and there really wasn't that much out to shoot (April is still quite cold in Stockholm, Sweden), but suddenly we noticed this guy sitting there in the bleak sunshine on one of the footbridges.

This is a European common frog (Rana temporaria) and looking at the eye with that jet black pupil, I realised that around the pupil is that gold ring the name of the reserve was talking about - how fitting!.
