Most butterflies are pretties when looking at the dorsal side of the wings, but I think the red lacewing (Cethosia biblis) and its close relative the leopard lacewing (C. cyane) here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/52636306632/ are exceptions to this rule.
The dorsal side here is either red with black tips (this one) or orange with black tips (leopard one: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/52047713818/)
The one in this photo is waiting for its wings to harden while hanging from the chrysalis it just crawled out of so as a bonus we can also see what the chrysalildes of this species look like.
