Low's Up High - _TNY_6824

This butterfly is a male great yellow mormon (Papilio lowii) which isn't a very great name as he obviously isn't yellow at all. The female is a bit more yellow (like here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/52845038432/), but I wouldn't describe it as a "yellow butterfly".

The species is also known as the Asian swallowtail which is a bit of a silly name as there are many many swallowtail species in Asia.

The third name of the species -which I personally prefer - is Low's swallowtail, named by entomologist Herbert Druce for British colonial administrator and naturalist Hugh Low.

This particular one had found a perch quite high up (like 2+ meters / 7 feet) so I had my tripod at its maximum height including the center column and let the 360 mm lens take me closer.
