If you think the English name for this female hoverfly is long with it being the "red-belted leafwalker" (Xylota ignava) - then how do you like the German one? "Weißhaarige Langbauchschwebfliege"? Just rolls of the toung doesn't it?
Translated into English, it would become something like "white-haired long-bellied hoverfly" which I think is a pretty intriguing description for a name.
