Odd One Out - TNY_2338
Here is a shot that is a bit unusual for me - in several ways.
For starters, I tend to get much closer to the butterflies (or any bugs), but I think the framing with the vine works excellent here.
Secondly, I didn't shoot this with my own camera. It's a 2019 shot and back then I was shooting with a Canon 5D Mk II, but since the Haga Ocean has a no flash policy, I decided to borrow my brother's Canon 6D as it handled higher ISO better than the 5D2.
And third, this is the only shot I have taken of this species. I believe this to be a tiger longwing (Heliconius hecale), possibly the subspecies zuleika.
The species of course have more than one English name because they always seem to do ,so this is also a Hecale longwing, a golden longwing and a golden heliconian.
Butterflies seems quite fond of mimicking each other - compare this one to the Mechanitis polymnia isthmia here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/52912164750/
