Count the Eyes, Pt. 4 - _TNY_9453

I mean, there's no real reason to count them, but if you wanted to - you sure could zoom in on the eyes (or rather prisms) of this beautiful female marmelade hoverfly (Episyrphus balteatus) on a Carthusian pink (Dianthus carthusianorum) at my mom's summer house.

The eye detail came out just great here if you zoom in - possibly one of the best compound eye shots I have managed.

The striping on the abdomen of this species can vary a bit, but I think like this one with lighter coloured bands look the best.
