Sunshine Makes a Difference - _TNY_6707

The roof of the Haga Ocean butterfly house is transparent to let more light in. After a long Swedish winter, it was a bit different to suddenly find this pale owl butterfly (Caligo memnon) sitting on the side of a tree with actual sunlight hitting it.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that in proper light, the otherwise pretty pale underside of the wings suddenly shimmered in a cool blue hue. I am more used to seeing them like this: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/51946510475/
