The Cutest Little Wasp, Pt. 4 - _TNY_5685

This incredibly cute - and very small (~3mm /.12") bug is an ensign wasp known as Brachygaster minutus.

I found it running around on the 3-seat garden swing in my mother-in-law's garden and managed a couple of shots of it before it jumped on top of my finger for some more photos.

Part 2 from while it was still on the fabric of the swing here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/53311540570/

When not posing or looking cute, these little guys parasitise on cockroach oothecae (ie the egg sac). In Sweden, the only such species is the dusky cockroach (Ectobius lapponicus), a species I have found in the same garden on several occasions (like here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/52515695133/)

Photo taken at 3.7:1 magnification.
