Nursery - TNY_20231010_153507

A-behind-the-scenes shot from the Haga Ocean butterfly house in Solna on the north side of Stockholm, Sweden, where staff member Marcus is hanging up a bar with new chrysalides so that the butterflies can hatch during the upcoming week.

The matte white beneath the cabinet is a mist which helps increase the humidity to make it easier for the butterflies to crawl out of their chrysalides without getting stuck. Underneath the mist is water which acts like a moat to stop ants from accessing the cabinet.

Looking at the species in this shot, on the top row is a pale owl butterfly (Caligo memnon), at the far end of the next one are a couple of atlas moths (Attacus atlas).

Going down another rung, there is what I think is a one-spotted prepona (Archaeoprepona demophon) near left and another atlas moth. Then at Markus' shoulder height are a couple of Peleides blue morphos (Morpho peleides) and down at the bottom, two more atlas moths.

Plus some sort of heliconian and another Peleides blue morpho on the inside of the far door.
