Near Retirement - _TNY_4493

Here is a very old and worn western honey bee (Apis mellifera) foraging on the equally large and purple inflorecence of a purple Angelica (Angelica gigas).

 

As you can see, much of the hair on the thorax is gone which happens with age. The eyes are still very hairy though. I wonder how that would feel.
