Take the Red Pill? - _TNY_3694
When I found this bright red little buddy in Tyresta National Park, I immediately thought it was a poplar leaf beetle (Chrysomela populi). But when processing the photo today (2.5 years later), it occured to me that it might be a C. tremula or C. saliceti instead.
Unable to come to a conclusive answer on my own, I turned to a beetle group on Facebook and almost immediately got an answer that it must be C. populi as with an elytra as wide as this over the shoulders - it coudn't be either of the other two species.
So now you know as well.
