Superficial Wing Damage - _TNY_0048

This peleides blue morpho (Morpho peleides) has somehow sustained a tear in its left hind wing. With their rather massive wing area compared to their weight, this one had no troubles flying anyways, but it also provides us with a glimpse of that spectacular dorsal side which is a magnificiently iridescent, metallic blue colour with black edges.

Also cool in this shot is how you can see the texture of the scales on the wings and how it looks quite a lot like cloth.
