Striped Pollinator - _TNY_6854

A common wasp (Vespula vulgaris) walking around on top of the inflorescence of a purple angelica (Angelica gigas) in search of nectar.

 

As you can see here, eusocial wasps are fairly fuzzy so on top of helping with keeping the number of caterpillars in the garden in check, the are also, despite common belief, active pollinators as well.
