Robberflies (Asilidae sp.) are predatory flies who are very strong fliers and hunt by intercepting other flying insects mid-air and punching those cylindrical mouth parts (known as a rostrum) into their prey and inject them with a venom which both quickly kill them, but also dissolve the insides a bit so the robber can enjoy a bug smoothie.
This one was haning out on a wall and stayed still enough for me to take four shots of it which I have focus-stacked into a single image with a greater depth of field using Zerene Stacker.
