Shower Companion - _TNY_6099 (In Explore 18/10 2023)

My mother's summer house has an outside shower on the side of the main building. The view in is obscured by walls, but there is no roof.

Whan closing up the place for the winter, I went in there to remove the shower head and mixer as those do better in a dry place during the cold season.

Obviously, nobody had showered there for a while, but instead the place had been sort of taken over by spiders - autumn orbweavers (Metellina segmentata) to be specific.

These weren't the easiest to photograph because the multiple webs blocked the camera and diffuser from fitting between them, but I got a couple of shots that worked.

This one in particular came out great. It's a male and he had spun his web above all the others (I actually brushed my hair against the web when I got in there). It was kind of cumbersome to shoot upwards agains the sky, but the end result looked really neat and the way the colour gradually shift from yellow to red on him like that looks really cool.

This was with the MP-E65mm so I couldn't get as far away from him as I wanted which resulted in me clipping one of his feet outside the frame so I rotated the shot in Photoshop and built him the missing foot out of one of a copy of one of the other and blended it in.
