Red and Gold Robe - _TNY_4063
Here is a (small but pretty) treat I found in late June at my mother's summer house in Saltarö, Sweden.
This one is known as the clover hay moth (Hypsopygia costalis), but due to the beautiful colouration and the fact that they like to rest with their wings in thid distinct trianglular shape, it is also known as the gold triangle - a name which makes me think of opium farming in the Far East.
From this angle (this is downwards with is sitting on a window) it has a certain "robe look" which came out quite cool imo. They sometimes rest with the wings open instead and I managed a focus-stacked photo of this one like this here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/53013655188/
Either way, this little guy chose to land on a glass door and refused to move the entire day so I had ample time to try out various angles and settings. I had to go all the way to f/16 for this one to get a good shot with the reflections in the glass and sufficient DoF - but if you zoom in on the green eyes, there is still acceptable detail on those.
For a phone shot of it with my fingertip (and very dirty fingernail) as a size-comparison here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/53262930753/
And a second phone/finger shot with the wings in the other position here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/53013175736/
