Feeding butterflies at the Haga Ocean butterfly house is done in two ways: plastic flowers, doused with sugar water or, like here, fresh fruit cut up and hung for the butterflies to enjoy.
Fresh fruit is a bit incorrect though. The butterflies prefer the fruit juices when they have fermented a bit and it isn't uncommon for them to be a bit affected by the alcohol which develops in them after a while.
This is another one of those shots where I take eight additional shots surrounding the center one and then stitch them together using Kolor Autopano Giga, creating a huge, 291 megapixel photo which can be zoomed into quite close.
The species hanging at the bar here are the peleides blue morpho (Morpho peleides, the banded blue morpho (Morpho achilles), the pale giant owl (Caligo memnon) and the yellow-edged giant owl (Caligo atreus).
