Emerald on Glass, Pt. 2 - _TNY_3964
Emerald wasps, also known as cuckoo wasps are a bit tricky to get good photos of. Not only are they pretty small (this is at 1.8:1 magnification), but they also are *really* fond of not staying still.
This little guy (or girl) was at an disadvantage when it comes to getting away though as it was stuck inside a window at my mom's summer house so it was at least a bit easier.
Obviously the background could have been more exciting, but at least I got a bit of a reflection of the wasp in the glass here.
As for species, this is one of several species which look *very* much alike - so similar that it can't be identified from just photos so the ID will stop at one of the ruby-tailed wasps) Chrysis ignita s.lat.) for this one.
