Matte Grey and Black - _TNY_5389
While being quite small (6mm /.23"), this fly caught my eye when it was buzzing around on the purple angelica (Angelica gigas).
The matte grey paintjob with strategically placed black spots looked really cool and the muted colours of it made for a good contrast to the purple of the not yet opened inflorescence.
The species lacks a vernacular English name, but the scientific one is Anthomyia procellaris.
