Iridescent Jewel, Video Version - TNY_20230709_135037

While I was indoors, processing a photo on the computer, my wife messaged me a photo of a beetle she had just found in the garden.

After looking at it, I came flying out of the house with the camera and was met by this rather large (~20 mm) female jewel beetle called Buprestis rustica walking around on a log, laying her eggs in cracks in it.

She was taking here time and I got several successful shots of her, but also this video where her egg-depositing is quite apparent.
