Iridescent Jewel, Pt. 3 - _TNY_4748S5

While I was indoors, processing a photo on the computer, my wife messaged me a photo of a beetle she had just found in the garden.

After looking at it, I came flying out of the house with the camera and was met by this rather large (~20 mm) female jewel beetle called Buprestis rustica walking around on a log, laying her eggs in cracks in it.

The jewel beetles I'm used to are way smaller so this was a real treat and I got several shots I'm really happy with and also a short video of her depositing the eggs in the log.

This particular shot was taken while she was in the middle of depositing eggs so she was literally stuck in one place which gave me time to do a focus stack. This is five exposures which were compiled nto a single shot using Zerene Stacker.
