Footman Reflection - _TNY_5421P2

When getting into the car (to visit the Mjällådalen nature reserve), I discovered this footman moth on the roof of my (metallic silver) car.

Obviously, it had to be photographed before we headed out so I did. I botched the first shot though and got too low and half the moth ended up out of frame so I took a better framed one.

When I saw the shots on the computer, I realised that the first shot had captured the reflection of the moth in the car's paint quite nicely. Using a panorama program to stitch this together didn't work, so I blended them together just using Photoshop instead. The resulting shot obviously got larger so this is a 79 megapixel shot.

The species is called the scarce footman (Eilema complana - or sometimes complanum).
